I have to admit, I’m quite naughty and don’t warm up as much as I should. This is a great reminder that I should make a proper warm-up a non-negotiable part of my routine.
Tut, tut, Laura 😆 I think if you're already pretty trained as you are, warm-up can be a little heavier than someone who is deconditioned, so have fun with it. Like, my warm-ups include things such as medicine ball throws and lighter kettlebell swings - which would be the main set for some.
So important, thank you for this! I am always in a hurry and thinking cutting my warm up in favour of a longer strength training session is a good idea. Spoiler Alert: it isn't. My most important area to warm up are my shoulders and upper back - I suffer for days after if I don't do it. Maybe I will learn some day....
Such a helpful reminder! ❤️ I think we’re all a little guilty of wanting to skip the warm-up and get straight into things. Living with chronic illness has certainly taught me that my body prefers a gentler approach, although my brain doesn’t always get the memo! 😂 I love how you’ve explained the reasons behind it, especially as we get older. 🤎
Hey Elle, thank you for your thoughtful comment! Yes, you definitely need to pay more attention to warm-up with chronic illness so I'm glad this article was helpful for you 🤗
Thank you for this! I just joined a friend for a running program she was doing and she makes us all warm up and stretch. Now I read this - the universe is sometimes loud to reach us! I’m will warm up today. 😊

So glad this resonated and was a good reminder - we can only suffer so much before we have to start acting, hey?
